The Centre of Western Armenian Studies and Ghent University are delighted to present this year's Taniel Varouzhan Annual Lecture, which will be held at Ghent University.

Prof. Andrei Zorin will explore the enduring cultural myth of the "true tsar" in Russian history - a figure believed to lead the nation from disaster to triumph. The talk will conclude with a reflection on Vladimir Putin as a contemporary embodiment of this powerful myth.

Op maandag 30 oktober organiseert Raam op Rusland, in samenwerking met De Rode Hoed, de zevende Oktoberlezing. Net als vorig jaar wordt de lezing ook dit jaar gegeven door een Oekraïense gast: Daria Kaleniuk van het Anti-corruptie Actiecentrum (AntAC) uit Kyiv.

On October 25th, Raam op Rusland will be organizing the fifth annual October Lecture together with debate center Rode Hoed. This year, Galina Timchenko of Russian news website Meduza will be shedding light on the deteriorating state of press freedom in Russia. The lecture will be followed by a debate with the Moscow-based Dutch journalist and publisher Derk Sauer.
