The current conflict in Ukraine has created the most severe crisis between Russia and the West since the end of the Cold War. Ukraine’s fate hangs in the balance.
The current tensions between Russia and Ukraine pose the biggest challenge to peace in Europe in recent years. The main cause of the conflict is Russian unease with the existing political and security order of Europe and its demand that it be overhauled to accommodate Russia’s security interests.
Scientific and academic exchange has always been a method for countries to maintain bilateral relations. Although Russia has scientific relations with several European states, no such links to the Netherlands exist as of yet.
