Debate 'The responsibility to remain silent? On the politics of knowledge production, expertise and (self-)reflection in Russia's war against Ukraine'

JIRD
JIRD

The event is organized by the Ukraine-plus Knowledge Center on the eve of the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It will feature a discussion focused on the Special Forum published in the Journal of International Relations and Development (JIRD) in 2023 (Journal of International Relations and Development | Volume 26, issue 4).

In conversation with the guest editors Dr Olga Burlyuk (University of Amsterdam) and Dr Vjosa Musliu (VUB) as well as the discussant Dr Maryna Shevtsova (KU Leuven), this event will aim to critically reflect on individual, institutional and disciplinary stratification and authority in debates of and about war; on who can produce knowledge about the war in international, transnational and European political debates and how; and on who needs to hurry and speak loudly and who does or ought to remain silent.
